hobart, elkhart, maumee, cuyahoga

I drove to Chicago. And back. Since Saturday night. 2,100 miles, 7 states, way too many tollbooths (which are strange and foreign to any CT driver. How does the rest of the country put up with them?) 2 campus tours, and some very pretty leaves. I never want to see the Ohio turnpike again. You are on my list, Ohio turnpike.

I have acquired a severe limp and need to sleep for a week. But I also brought back fudge. That makes all things tolerable.

The Ohio Turnpike is a strange and irritating creature. The tolls alone are crazy, but we only just got EasyPass in the last couple of years.

On the upside, though, you drove by my exit and my house!

I think it might be better at other times of year, but it seemed like half of it was under construction so there were lanes closed for 50 miles at a stretch.

But hooray for your exit! If I'd realized, I'd have waved in your general direction.

ugh, don't get me started on road construction. I have so much construction that seems to be never ending between me and my Uni it's not funny. I assume they're waiting to finish up until I never have to go to campus again. THEN they'll be done screwing around with it.

Elkhart?! I don't think I've ever heard anyone from not around my area mention Elkhart unless they really like Hummers.

I have to give credit for that to Dave Carter, whose song about highway 80 I was humming to myself the entire trip back.

But I'm sure Elkhart is a very nice place to visit and/or get a hummer.

My sister had a college visit in Chicago. If she actually ends up going there, I've already decided when she moves in we're taking a plane and sending her stuff by UPS.

I am very much a flyer! But it would have been more expensive, especially on a holiday weekend.
